Inspector Notes

An unannounced, on-site renewal inspection was initiated on and
completed on 07/22/2024, as a part of the one year licensure period. The on-site inspection began at 10:50am and ended at 12:15pm. The inspector reviewed compliance
in the areas listed above.There were 6 children present and 1 caregiver; the point total was 11 points. The inspector reviewed 2 new children?s records
and all staff records on-site. This inspection included document review of policies and procedures, emergency drill logs and authorization forms. A tour of the family day home (both levels) and the backyard was completed. Observation of the children and provider was made. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law, and violations are documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Based on a review of household members, one background clearance was not completed.
Evidence:
Household member #3 is over the age of 14 years. A central Registry search request and clearance has not been obtained.
Plan of Correction: A Central Registry search request will be made as soon as possible. The results will be forwarded to the Licensing Inspector for review.
Standard 8VAC20-800-240-A
Based on observation of the family day home, areas of the outside were not maintained in a safe condition.
Evidence:
The backyard of the family day home had a piece of metal fencing that had rusted and was laying in an area accessible to children. Areas of the backyard had debris and a pile of bagged trash that posed tripping hazards.
Plan of Correction: The area of the backyard will be cleaned out and equipment, furnishings and objects not safe or in use will be disposed of. This will be completed before children are permitted to play in the back yard.
