Inspector Notes
An announced initial inspection was conducted on 12/7/22 from 12:45pm to 3:10pm with the Owner, Director, and Assistant Director. The center initially plans to operate Monday through Saturday from 7:30am to 5:30pm. The center will care for up to 107 children from six-weeks-old to 12-years-old. Most, but not all, standards were reviewed as standards related to supervision, child records, and programming could not be observed because there were no children in care during the inspection. The physical plant was observed and measured to verify capacity. The emergency preparedness plans, parent handbook, staff handbook, and emergency supplies were reviewed at this time. Emergency numbers, evacuation maps/procedures and daily schedules were posted. Five staff records were reviewed, the Director?s record and Board Officer Background checks were reviewed previously. Medications will be administered upon parental request, appropriate authorizations, and in accordance with the center's medication policies and procedures. One staff has current certification in Medication Administration Training (MAT) and others will be getting certified. The Center has two staff with current certification in CPR and First Aid, and two staff with current Daily Health Observation Training (DHO). The most recent Fire Inspection submitted was dated 12/29/22 and the most recent Health Inspection on file was dated 11/30/22. Classrooms are equipped with a variety of age appropriate materials. Meals will be provided by the parents initially. A conditional (six-month) license will be recommended at this time. An unannounced follow-up inspection will be conducted within 60 days to determine compliance with standards not observed at the initial inspection. If you have questions regarding this inspection, please contact the Licensing Inspector, Laura Brindle, at laura.brindle@doe.virginia.gov or 540-905-2062.
