Inspector Notes

An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted today with the administrative staff from 7:30 am to 9:05 am. Nine children were present with 4 staff providing supervision. The ages of the children present were from 9 months to 4 years. Four staff files and five children's files were reviewed during this inspection. Medications for two children and allergy care plan for one child were also reviewed. Please provide documentation that you have sent off for the out of state background check for Staff A within 10 days. Please provide a copy of the completed background check upon receipt. The areas of non compliance are outlined on the violation notice.

Based on a review of files and interview with administrative staff, it was determined that one staff did not have an out of state background check prior to their first day of employment.
Evidence:
Staff A was employed on 7/11/23 and the center does not have the out of state criminal history check from Texas.
Plan of Correction: In the future we will make sure to obtain out of state criminal records checks prior to employment. We will send the Licensing Inspector a copy of the completed background check upon receipt.

Based on observation, it was determined that one child did not wash their hands or clean them with disposable wipes after eating breakfast in the Elephant's classroom.
Plan of Correction: We will remind staff of the importance and requirement to wash children's hands before and after eating.
