Inspector Notes

An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on April 19, 2024 from 7:45am to approximately 8:35am. There were three children present and two staff members. Emergency procedures and emergency supplies, along with all required postings, were also reviewed. There were no medications and transportation is not provided. The children were observed during group activity, bathroom break, and arrival to the program. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented. The violations are listed on the violation notice issued to the center and were reviewed with the site staff at the exit interview.

REPEAT VIOLATION.
Based on observation and interview it was determined that the center did not ensure that the finding of the most recent inspection of the facility was posted on the premises of the facility.
Evidence:
1. The most recent inspection from February 22, 2024, was not posted on the premises.
2. Staff #1 confirmed that the most recent inspection was not printed and not posted on the premises of the facility.
Plan of Correction: The center responded with the following: Staff will print out the most recent license and post it to the parent board.
Standard 8VAC20-780-280-B
Based on observation and interview, it was determined that the center did not ensure that hazardous substances such as cleaning materials be kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children.
Evidence:
1. In the file drawer, accessible to the children in care, there were disinfectant wipes and spray that were not locked.
2. Staff #1 confirmed that the cleaning products with a warning label, ?Keep out of Children? were unlocked and accessible to children.
Plan of Correction: The center responded with the following: The center locked the disinfectants during the time of the inspection and will keep it out of the filing cabinet away from children.
Standard 8VAC20-780-550-B
Based on interview, it was determined that the center failed to ensure that procedures or emergencies shall include a complete evacuation of the building.
Evidence:
1. Staff #1 confirmed that there have been no practice drills completed.
2. In speaking with the children present at the center, they confirmed that they have not had a fire drill during their before and after school program at the center.
Plan of Correction: The center responded with the following: The center will conduct an emergency drill, document it on the drill log and continue to do this monthly.
