Inspector Notes
A subsidy health and safety inspection (SHSI) was conducted in conjunction with the renewal inspection. Subsidy standards that are not covered in family day home standards were reviewed during this SHSI.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law, and violations are documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

REPEAT VIOLATION
All caregivers shall have within 90 days of employment a current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) appropriate to the ages of children in care. The training shall include an in-person competency demonstration. Caregiver #2?s CPR training had been overdue for renewal for more than four months.

Plan of Correction: Caregiver #2 is enrolled in the earliest first aid and CPR training class they could find. The first aid and CPR training will be updated by the end of January 2025.

Caregivers working directly with children must, in addition to pre-service and orientation training complete at least 16 hours of training annually, including the department?s health and safety update course. The records for Caregiver #1, Caregiver #2, and Caregiver #3 did not include documentation showing completion of the department?s annual health and safety update course. All caregivers have been employed at the family day home for over 13 months.
Plan of Correction: All caregivers will have the annual health and safety training completed by the end of January 2025.
