Inspector Notes

An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted October 10, 2023 between 3:15pm and 4:30pm. There were 5 children present with one (1) caregiver supervising for a total of 11 points within the supervision guidelines. The children were observed playing outside, eating snack, diapering and toileting procedures, handwashing, and playing with other age-appropriate toys and materials inside. Positive interactions were observed during this inspection. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programing, evacuation drill logs, menu, attendance, child and caregiver records, and emergency procedures. There was no medication on sight. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the programs. Standard 8VAC20-800-320-I
Based on observation and interview, the provider did not have smoke detectors on each level of the home.
Evidence:
1. The provider did not have smoke detectors on the basement level.
Plan of Correction: The alarm was peeping so I took it down and have not put the new one up. I will put the new smoke alarm up this afternoon.
Standard 8VAC20-800-430-B
Based on observation of the provider's home, a pressure mounted gate is used as a protective barrier at the stair openings.
Evidence: The pressure mounted gate was installed at the stair opening in the basement that leads upstairs. Hard mounted gates are required.
Plan of Correction: I will contact someone to install a wall mounted gate.
