Inspector Notes

An announced initial inspection was conducted on 6/29/2023. There were no children present
today. A selection of staff records, physical space, emergency supplies, crib dates, class schedules, injury prevention plan, playground safety plan and emergency preparedness plan were reviewed. Standard 8VAC20-780-270-A
Based on observation, areas and equipment inside and outside were not maintained in a safe and operable condition.
Evidence:
1. In the media classroom, the foosball table was missing a part for the game.
2. The home living pretend sink was missing the sink faucet in classroom 124A, 111A, 119A and 112A.
3. In the music classroom, the cabinet was chipped on the left side corner.
4. In 122A classroom, the cabinet handle was missing a screw to hold it in place.
5. On the playground, the poured in place surface was cracked near the slide in the Toddler/2's area and a large circular area approximately 15 inches wide was missing the poured in place surface on the 3's playground.
Plan of Correction: We will remove from the classroom and repair and/or replace them.
We will repair the playground surface.
We will fix the cabinet handle and repair the other cabinet.

Based on interview and review of the emergency preparedness plan, the center's plan was not developed in consultation with local and state authorities.
Evidence:
1. Staff stated it had not been developed in consultation with local and state authorities.
Plan of Correction: We have contacted the Fire Marshall and emailed the plan to review.
