Inspector Notes

The Licensing Inspector initiated and completed an unannounced 60-day inspection on 7/17//2023. The inspector was on site from 10:20am until 12:00pm.

There were 34 children under the care of 2 staff. The ages of the children ranged from five to twelve years old. The children were observed during indoor free play. Four children?s record and three staff records were reviewed.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law, and violations are documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Standard 8VAC20-780-530-C
The center failed to ensure there shall be at least two staff members who hold a current cardiopulmonary resuscitation and current certification in first aid present on the premises during the center?s hours of operation, on fieldtrips, and whenever children are in care.

Evidence:
Staff #1 was observed working during the inspection on 7/17/2023. Staff #1 had an expired CPR/ First Aid certificate as of 6/23.
Staff #3 stated she works in the building at times but is not there every day, all day.
Plan of Correction: CPR/ First Aid classes are scheduled for July 31, 2023.
