During the inspection, the inspector reviewed the areas listed above to include standards found out of compliance during the previous inspection. Unless otherwise noted as a violation within this inspection report, the provider was in compliance with the standards reviewed. If there were any serious injuries or fatalities related to a violation, the details will be included in the description of the violation.

Inspector Notes

An unannounced, on-site monitoring inspection was initiated on 10/31/2024 and completed on 11/15/2024, as a part of licensure period. The on-site inspection began at 2:20pm and ended at 4:45pm. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas listed above. There were 37 children present and 3 staff. The inspector reviewed 4 children?s records and 3 staff records on-site. This inspection included document review, tour of the facility, and interviews. A follow-up inspection with the administrator was conducted on 11/7/2024.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law, and violations are documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Please complete the plan of correction (POC) and date to be corrected sections for each violation cited on the violation notice. Specify how the violation will be or has been corrected. Submit your POC within five (5) business days from today, which will be the close of business on 11/22/2024. A POC submitted after this date will not appear on the public website.

Standard 8VAC20-780-270-D
Fans or cooling systems shall be used when the temperature of inside areas occupied by children exceeds 80 degrees.

On 10/31/2024, the inside temperature of the classroom was 81 degrees. There were no fans or cooling systems in use. Children were inside the classroom for approximately one and a half hours. Several children complained to staff about the room being hot.

There shall be 35 square feet of indoor space available per child.

On 10/31/24, 37 children were observed in attendance. The only space used for care measures for 32 children. According to attendance records, the center regularly has over 35 children daily.

Standard 8VAC20-780-40-E
Centers shall be in compliance with the terms of the current license issued by the department.

The current license issued by the department has a center capacity of 44 children and a stipulation that the maximum occupancy of the building is 48 including staff. According to attendance records on 5 days in October, the center exceeded capacity by as many as 12 children.
