Inspector Notes

An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on April 19, 2024 from 7:15am to 8:31am. At the time of the inspection there were 10 children in care and 2 staff members. Children were observed participating in various activities including center play, circle time and group games. Records were reviewed for four children and two staff members. Evacuation drills, emergency supplies and other required records and postings were reviewed. The information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and a violation was documented on the violation notice and discussed with the director during the exit interview.

Based on observation, the center failed to ensure that hazardous substances such as cleaning materials, insecticides, and pesticides shall be kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children.
Evidence:
1. There was an open shelf that had a container of disinfectant wipes and it was accessible to children.
2. Staff #1 (Director) confirmed that the wipes were unlocked and accessible to children
Plan of Correction: The center responded with the following: Staff will ensure that all hazardous substances are locked an inaccessible to children in care.
