Inspector Notes

Conducted an announced initial inspection at 1:00pm. There were no children present at the time of the inspection as the program is not yet licensed to operate. Management interviewed, physical plant inspected, and records reviewed. The facility was found to be clean and well supplied toys and equipment for the children. Staffing is in place and children are enrolled. An area of non-compliance with standards and laws reviewed was found. Questions about this inspection may be directed to pamela.sneed@doe.virginia.gov

Based on records reviewed, the licensee failed to ensure that an employee listed on the initial application for licensure and designated as a person responsible for the facility had a completed background check.

Evidence:

1. A completed criminal record check (fingerprinting) was not on-file or available for review for Staff #7.
2. A document was presented to the inspector from human resources that indicated some type of background check was in-process however, the document did not indicate what type of background check or which agencies were processing the check.
3. Management said the criminal record check would be submitted to the inspector for verification on 8/25/23 however, this did not occur.
Plan of Correction: County Personnel was unable to locate results on staff #7 fingerprints. Employee has since scheduled another appointment for tomorrow. We should have results back by the end of the week. Will forward them as soon as I receive them.
