8VAC20-790 SUBSIDY REGULATIONS

Inspector Notes

An initial subsidy health and safety inspection was conducted on February 20, 2024, with the center director. There were 42 children present with 4 staff supervising. The inspection began at approximately 3:15 PM and concluded at 4:30 PM. A licensing inspection was also conducted on this date. Both inspections combined cover subsidy health and safety regulations. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards were reviewed during this supplemental inspection.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Please complete the ?plan of correction? and ?date to be corrected? for each violation cited on the violation notice and return it to me within 5 business days from today. Please specify how the deficient practice will be or has been corrected. Your plan of correction should contain: 1) steps to correct the noncompliance with the standard(s), 2) measures to prevent the noncompliance from occurring again; and 3) person(s) responsible for implementing each step and/or monitoring any preventive measure(s).

Based on a review of staff records, the center failed to ensure within the first 90 days of employment of service all staff complete Virginia Pre-Service Training for Childcare Staff.

Evidence:
1. The record for staff #2, did not contain documentation of a completed Virginia Preservice Training for Child Care Staff. Staff #2's hire date was 7/17/2023.
2. An administrator stated that staff # 2 had not completed the Virginia Preservice Training.

Based on review of staff records, the center failed to ensure that all staff had current certification in CPR.
Evidence:
1. The record for staff # 1 (employment date 9/25/2023), did not contain documentation of a complete CPR certification.
2. An administration verified that staff #1 did not have CPR certification..
