Inspector Notes

A renewal inspection was initiated on 3/18/2024 and concluded on 3/18/2024. There were 27 children present with five staff supervising, one administrator and one kitchen staff present. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of five child records and seven staff records were reviewed. The inspection started at 11:05 am and concluded at 1:50 pm.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

(REPEAT VIOLATION) Based on record reviews the center failed to ensure that all staff have a fingerprint based criminal history check prior to the first day of employment.
Evidence:
Staff #4 (hire date 9/12/23) does not have a fingerprint based criminal background check on file. Staff #4 has worked four days since hire date.
Plan of Correction: The director and owner will ensure that all background checks are completed within the set time frames.
Standard 8VAC20-770-60-C-2
(REPEAT VIOLATION) Based on record reviews the center failed to ensure that all staff have a Central Registry check on file by the end of the 30th day of employment.
Evidence:
Staff #4 (hire date 9/12/23) does not have a central registry check on file. Staff #4 has worked four days since hire date.
Plan of Correction: The director and owner will ensure that all background checks are completed within the set time frames.

Based on observation the center failed to ensure that cots have a bottom cover.
Evidence:
The cots in the toddler room did not have a bottom cover.
Plan of Correction: Center will make sure the children have bottom and top covers during nap times.

Based on observation the center failed to ensure that children's hands are washed after meals.
Evidence:
Following lunch in the toddler room the children did not wash their hands.
Plan of Correction: Center will ensure that all children and staff wash hands before and after meals and snacks.
Standard 8VAC20-780-560-F
Based on observation the center failed to ensure that a menu listing foods to be served for meals and snacks be posted in a location conspicuous to parents or given to parents.
Evidence:
The weeks menu was not posted or given to parents.
Plan of Correction: Center will ensure that the menu is posted on each floor of the center.
