Inspector Notes

An unannounced, on-site renewal inspection was completed on 03/25/2026. The on-site inspection began at 1:50 p.m. and ended at 5:22 p.m. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas listed above. There were 55 children present and 10 staff. The inspector reviewed 6 children?s records, 4 child medications, and 6 staff records on-site. This inspection included document review, tour of the facility, interviews and observations.

A subsidy health and safety inspection (SHSI) was conducted in conjunction with the licensing inspection. Subsidy standards that are not covered in licensing standards were reviewed during this SHSI, and this single inspection report reflects findings related to licensing standards and subsidy standards.

Information gathered during the inspection determined noncompliance with applicable standards or law, and violations are documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Please complete the plan of correction (POC) and date to be corrected sections for each violation cited on the violation notice. Specify how the violation will be or has been corrected. Submit your POC within five business days from today, which will be the close of business on 04/06/2026. A POC submitted after this date will not appear on the public website.

Standard 8VAC20-780-510-L
Medication shall be kept in a locked place using a locking method that prevents access by children. Licensing inspector observed a prescription medication in a plastic bag for C9 on a low shelf of the diaper changing table accessible to children in the 16-month classroom.
Plan of Correction: On 3/25/2026, a prescription diaper rash cream was inadvertently left within reach of children by a staff member following a diaper change; this was an isolated human error and not reflective of our center?s standard practices regarding medication storage. The item was immediately removed and secured upon discovery. To prevent recurrence, all staff have completed refresher training on proper medication storage procedures, emphasizing that all medications?prescription and non-prescription?must be kept secured and inaccessible to children at all times. Additionally, a review of the Virginia Department of Education medication administration and storage procedures was conducted with all staff to reinforce expectations and accountability. A visual reminder outlining medication storage requirements is now clearly posted in the classroom next to the diaper changing area, and administration has implemented ongoing monitoring procedures to ensure continued compliance.
