Inspector Notes

An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted today, June 27, 2024, from approximately 8:30 am to 10:30am. Four children were present with one caregiver for eleven points, which is within ratios for supervision. Children were observed during free play, circletime and singing songs. The home, 4 children's records,1 caregiver record and 2 household member records, evacuation drills, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. Standard 8VAC20-800-690-D
Based on provider interview, the diapering surface was not sanitized after every use.
Evidence:
1. The provider stated the diapering surface is wiped with sanitizing wipes after each use.
2. The method of sanitization did not allow the surface of the item to be sprayed or dipped into the sanitizing solution, as required.
Plan of Correction: Provider will use the bleach and water solution to sanitize.
Standard 8VAC20-800-80-C
Based on record review, the provider's documentation of the verification of the child's age and identity did not contain all required information.

Evidence:
1. The records for child #1 and child #4 did not contain the date and signature of person viewing the proof of identification.
Plan of Correction: Provider will fill out the form.
Standard 8VAC20-800-800-A
Based on record review, the written emergency preparedness and response plan did not contain all required documentation.
Evidence:
1. The Emergency Preparedness and response plan did not nclude provisions for a responsible person who is 18 years of age or older and is able to arrive at the family day home within 10 minutes for emergency.

Based on observation and provider interview, the provider did not ensure the menu contained all required information.
Evidence:
1. The menu was not dated.
2. The menu listed banana bread, fruit and milk for breakfast. The provider stated the food served was: waffles, bananas, and milk, the substitution was not added to the menu.
Plan of Correction: The provider will add the date and inform parents about substitutions.
