Inspector Notes

An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted with the director on April 8, 2024, beginning at 12:00 p.m. and ending at 1:41 p.m. There were 16 school-aged children in the direct care of 5 staff. The children were observed finishing lunch and getting ready for nap time. Five children?s records were reviewed and in compliance. Four staff records were reviewed and in compliance. The first aid kit, flashlight, and battery-operated radio were observed and in compliance. One medication and allergy care plan were reviewed and in compliance.

Standard 8VAC20-780-500-A
Based on observation, the facility staff did not ensure hand washing and toileting procedures were being followed. Evidence: In the 3-year-old classroom, one child?s hands were not washed after lunch. In the preschool classroom, a staff did not wash hands after assisting a child in the bathroom and children did not wash hands after finishing lunch.
Plan of Correction: All staff will be retrained on proper handwashing procedures. Staff will be monitored by management for compliance.

Based on observation, the facility staff did not ensure that prepared formula was refrigerated, dated, and labeled with the child?s name. Evidence: In the infant classroom, there were 13 bottles in the refrigerator that were not dated.
Plan of Correction: All staff will be retrained on dating and labeling infant bottles. Management will monitor weekly for compliance.
