Inspector Notes

An unannounced Subsidy Health and Safety Inspection (SHSI) was conducted on 6/4/24 from 9:40am to 10:55am in conjunction with a monitoring inspection (see that inspection report for details). The two inspections combined cover all subsidy health and safety requirements. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards are reviewed during this supplemental inspection. One caregiver record was reviewed for documentation of the mandatory Virginia Preservice, Health & Safety Update training, and current certification in First Aid and CPR. There are children currently enrolled with diagnosed food allergies and their records were reviewed for allergy care plans. If you have questions regarding this inspection, please contact the Licensing Inspector, Laura Brindle, at laura.brindle@doe.virginia.gov or 540-905-2062.

Please complete the "Plan of Correction" and "Date to be Corrected" areas on the Violation Notice for each violation cited and return to me by close of business on 6/12/24. Plans of correction should include steps to correct the noncompliance with the standard, and measures to prevent the noncompliance from occurring again.

Violations

1
Standard 8VAC20-790-190-B-12
Based on review of five child records, the provider did not obtain a written care plan for each child with a diagnosed food allergy, to include instructions from a physician regarding the food to which the child is allergic and the steps to be taken in the event of a suspected or confirmed allergic reaction. Evidence: The record for Child E contained documentation from a physician that the child is allergic to eggs and milk. There was no allergy care plan on record from a physician regarding the steps to be taken in the event of a suspected or confirmed allergic reaction.
Plan of Correction: The child's allergy care plan will be obtained from parent.
