Inspector Notes

An initial inspection was conducted on 02/16/2024. A tour of the facility was conducted, in addition to a record review and interviews with staff. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance(s) with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Standard 8VAC20-780-270-A
Based on observation the center did not ensure all areas and equipment of the center was maintained in a safe condition.

Evidence:
In the preschool room there was a cabinet under the sink with exposed and peeling particle board on the corner and a strip of peeling paint.
Plan of Correction: The corner of the sink and paint strip will be repaired.

Where playground equipment is provided, resilient surfacing shall comply with minimum safety standards when tested in accordance with the procedures described in the American Society for Testing and Materials standard F1292-99.

Evidence
The center had 2 play areas outside. The second area farthest from the building had a slide and merry-go-round that did not have any resilient surfacing. Weeds were growing around the ground covers of the equipment. Six feet around and Six inches deep of surfacing is required.
Plan of Correction: The back part of the back yard will not be used. The play area that is fenced and closest to the building will be the only area the children will play in at this time. The second section will be closed off.

Based on observation the center did not ensure all required items were in the first aid kit.
Evidence:
The center did not have a thermometer in the first aid kit.
Plan of Correction: A thermometer will be placed in the center's first aid kit.
