Inspector Notes

An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on 06/06/2024 from 8:50am to 9:21am. There were 8 children directly supervised by 2 caregivers. The home, 1 caregiver record, 8 children?s records, evacuation drills, menu, and policies were inspected. There were no medications on site today. Children were observed playing freely and eating breakfast. There was an assortment of age appropriate materials for children. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program. Standard 8VAC20-800-280
Based on observation, the provider did not store away potentially poisonous substances,
cleaning agents, and disinfectants in an area inaccessible to children.

Evidence:
1. Four tubes of toothpaste was on the bathroom counter by the sink accessible to the children.
2. Poisonous substances, including cleaning agents and personal care products, were stored in an unlocked cabinet under the bathroom sink that was accessible to children.
Plan of Correction: The caregiver put away the items and locked the cabinet during the inspection.
Standard 8VAC20-800-60-B
Based on children's record review, 1 of 8 children's records did not contain the address of two designated persons to contact in case of an emergency if the parent cannot be reached.

Evidence:
Child #1's record was missing the addresses for two designated emergency contacts.
Plan of Correction: The provider will contact the parents today and complete the child's record with the required emergency contact information.
