Inspector Notes

A monitoring inspection was initiated on 4/30/24 and concluded on 4/30/24. There were seven children present with four staff supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of five child records were reviewed. The inspection started at 1:00 pm and concluded at 2:25 pm.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Standard 8VAC20-780-440-L
Based on observation the center failed to ensure that pillows and filled comforters shall not be used by children under two years of age.
Evidence:
An infant was sleeping in the crib on a boppy pillow.
Plan of Correction: The center staff removed the boppy pillow. The center staff will request that the parent provide a Doctors statement if the child needs this for medical purposes.
Standard 8VAC20-780-440-N
Based on observation the center failed to ensure that toys or objects hung over an infant in a crib and crib gyms that are strung across the crib may not be used for infants over five months of age or infants who are able to push up on their hands and knees.
Evidence:
The crib that is for a nine month old had a mobile attached.
Plan of Correction: The mobile will be removed and only used for infants five months or younger.
