An announced initial Subsidy Health and Safety inspection (SHSI) was conducted with the director on August 22, 2024 beginning at 10:40 a.m. and ending at 1:30 p.m. There were 17 children, ages 7 months through 4 years old, in care during the inspection.
Six staff records were reviewed. There were no medications on site to be reviewed. There are five Medication Administration Training (MAT) certified staff. A complete first aid kit and battery operated flashlight were available. The Emergency Preparedness Plan was reviewed and in compliance.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or requirements and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Based on observation and interview, the vendor failed to ensure cribs were provided for all children birth through 12 months of age.
Evidence: An 8 month old infant was observed sleeping in a playpen. There was a 'arms reach cosleeper' in the infant room utilized for sleep.

Based on observation and interview, the vendor failed to ensure diapering surfaces were cleaned and sanitized after diapering. Evidence: Staff interview revealed that diapering procedures included using wipes to clean the diapering surface but there was not a sanitizing step.

Based on observation, the vendor failed to ensure all children's hands were washed with soap and running water or disposable wipes before eating meals. Evidence: In the two's room, children's hands were not washed or wiped with disposable wipes before eating lunch.

Based on observation, the vendor failed to ensure there was a foot operated diaper disposal system or a closed system in which the hand does not come in contact with the lid.
