Inspector Notes

An announced Initial inspection was conducted on July 9, 2024. The inspector was on-site from 9:30 am until 10:45 am. The provider plans to provide care to children two months through eight years in age. A capacity of (8) eight children is recommended based on childcare space and zoning.
Care will be provided in the living room and an additional playroom. Meals will be provided by the licensee. The home is equipped with a variety of age-appropriate equipment and supplies including materials for gross motor, art, literacy, and dramatic play. One crib was inspected and met Federals Safety standards. Transportation will not be provided. The provider will not administer medications. There was one child in care along with one resident child. A walk through of the entire home was conducted during today's inspection.
The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing, emergencies, and nutrition. A total of two children?s records, one caregiver record and one household member?s record were reviewed.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.
A conditional (6 month) license will be recommended. An unannounced follow-up will be conducted within 60 days to determine compliance with standards not determined at the initial inspection. If you have questions regarding this inspection, please contact the licensing inspector.

Violations

2
Standard 8VAC20-800-770
Based on observation and interview, the provider did not ensure a working battery-operated flashlight, a working portable battery-operated weather band radio, and extra batteries were kept in a designated area and available to caregivers at all times.

Evidence:

There were no batteries in the battery-operated weather band radio. The provider stated she did not have extra batteries.
Plan of Correction: Per the provider: I just ordered the extra batteries for the radio.
Standard 8VAC20-800-90-A
Based on review of two children?s records, the provider did not obtain documentation that a child had been adequately immunized before the child may attend the family day home.

Evidence:

The record of child #1, enrolled 07/01/2024, did not contain documentation of immunizations
exceeding the first day of attendance.
Plan of Correction: Per the provider: I will have the parent provide the documentation for the record.
