Inspector Notes
An announced, on-site initial inspection was initiated and completed on 2/10/2025. The on-site inspection began at 10:00am and ended at 1:30pm. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas listed above. There were no children enrolled. The inspector reviewed 2 staff records on-site on 2/10/25. This inspection included document review, tour of the facility, interviews, observations and measurements. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law, and violations are documented on the violation notice issued to the program.
Standard 8VAC20-780-270-A
Areas and equipment of the center, inside and outside, shall be maintained in a clean, safe and operable condition. A cabinet in the preschool classroom was not secured to the wall. The cabinet wobbled when touched. A toy cubby in a classroom had a loose backboard and a nail head sticking out. There was a tall unsecured tree shaped board leaning against a wall. There was an unstable book rack on the floor in the infant room. A high chair table and the padded mat below it had debris on it. On the playground there was peeling paint on the sandbox.There was a nail head sticking out of a board. There was splintered wood in the infant-toddler play space. There was peeling paint and rust on a tricycle.
Plan of Correction: Provider will secure the cabinet and tree board to the wall. The toy cubby will be repaired. The book rack will be removed and a basket will be used for the books. The mat and high chair table will be cleaned. The sandbox and the wood on the infant-toddler play area will be sanded and repaired. The nail head that stuck out of a board on the playground was hammered into place during the inspection.The rusted tricycle will be removed from the playground and discarded.

The required first aid kits shall maintain at least the minimum required supplies. The first aid kit did not contain a working thermometer. The first aid kit contained only one triangular bandage when more than one bandages were required.
Plan of Correction: A working thermometer and an additional triangular bandage has been added to the first aid kit.
