Inspector Notes

An announced initial inspection was completed on 03/26/2025 as a part of the licensure period.
The on-site inspection began at 10:15am and ended at 12:00pm. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas listed above. This inspection included: document review, tour of the facility, interviews, observations and measurements. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law, and violations are documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Standard 8VAC20-800-320-G
Fireplaces and associated chimneys shall be inspected annually by a knowledgeable inspector to verify that the devices are properly installed, maintained, and cleaned as needed. Documentation of the inspection and cleaning shall be maintained by the provider. There were 2 fireplaces/chimneys in the provider's home that did not have an annual inspection.
Plan of Correction: An inspection on both chimneys was conducted and report given to the provider on 03/28/2025.
Standard 8VAC20-800-430-C
Children over the age of two shall not have access to stairs with three or more risers that do not have protective barriers or guardrails on each side.

The staircase into the main living space had 5 risers with no guardrails.
Plan of Correction: The provider installed handrails on both sides of the staircase with 5 risers.
Standard 8VAC20-800-800-A
The family day home shall have a written emergency preparedness and response plan that addresses all requirements. The provider did not have a written emergency preparedness for the home.
Plan of Correction: The provider has completed an emergency preparedness plan for the home that will be given to parents.
Standard 8VAC20-800-880
Family day homes shall follow the most recent, age-appropriate nutritional
requirements of a recognized authority such as the Child and Adult Care Food
Program of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).

The provider's meal menu did not reflect the most current USDA requirements.
Plan of Correction: The provider will update her current menu to reflect the requirements outlined by USDA.
