Inspector Notes

An unannounced renewal inspection was completed on 08/19/2025, as a part of the licensure period. The on-site inspection began at (1:00pm and ended at 2:00pm.The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas listed above. This inspection included: document review, tour of the facility, interviews, observations and measurements. There were 5 children present and 1 caregivers; the point total was 14. The inspector reviewed 3 children?s records and 1 caregiver/household member(s) records. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law, and violations are documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Standard 8VAC20-800-240-A
Areas and furnishings of the family day home, inside and outside, shall be maintained in a safe condition. There was a tall bookcase and dollhouse that posed a tipping hazard in the main daycare area.
Plan of Correction: The bookcase/dollhouse will be secured in such a way to prevent tipping.
Standard 8VAC20-800-280
Potentially poisonous substances, materials and supplies such as, but not limited to, cleaning agents and disinfectants shall be in areas inaccessible to children.
There was a disinfectant spray on the provider's desk in reach of children in care.
Plan of Correction: This was an oversight. all cleaning agents and chemicals will be stored out of the reach of children.
Standard 8VAC20-800-530-A
Rest mats used for napping children shall consist of a top and bottom cover. Four children were observed during nap with only a bottom cover and no top cover.
Plan of Correction: One of the children has used the top cover in a non age appropriate manner. Top covers will be given to all the children with the exception of the one. A note from the parent will be requested allowing for only a bottom cover due to safety reasons.
