Standard 8VAC20-800-240-A
Areas and furnishings of the family day home, inside and outside shall be maintained in safe condition.

The guardrail barriers in the living room that are meant to block access to the first floor foyer had slat openings in areas that were 7" wide, 8" wide, and 10" wide which poses potential for a child becoming entrapped or falling through. The guardrails were covered with screening and cardboard that was zip tied to the top banister, but this would not sufficiently prevent a child from potentially becoming entrapped at the bottom of the screening. There is also a couch backed up to the guardrail which poses potential for a child to climb over.
Plan of Correction: Couch will be moved to the other side of the living room. I will cover guard rails with adequate banister guards.
