Standard 8VAC20-800-240-A
Areas and furnishings of the family day home, inside and outside, shall be maintained in a safe condition. One of the blue concrete columns was cracked and jagged. In the back yard there was a rusted grill exposed and wires hanging from the home to the ground.
Plan of Correction: The column will be sanded and cracked filled, the wire will be secured and the grill will be disposed of.
Standard 8VAC20-800-440-B
Protective barriers or guardrails shall be constructed to prevent a child from climbing over, crawling or falling through, or becoming entrapped. The protective barriers around the raised front porch was not at least 4 feet high to prevent a child from climbing over and the slats had more than 4 inches of space between them, posing an entrapment hazard.
Plan of Correction: The protective barriers will be replaced to ensure children can not climb over or become entrapped.
