Inspector Notes

A monitoring inspection was conducted on 5/24/2022 between the hours of approximately 9:00am and 10:00am. There were a total of 26 children with 6 staff members present. Children were observed engaging in group activities, individual stations, and bathroom breaks. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of 3 child records and 0 staff records were reviewed. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program. Based on observation, areas of the center were not maintained in a safe operable condition.

Evidence: Lightbulb in stairway needs replacing.
Plan of Correction: Staff have called in work order for maintenance staff to replace lightbulb.
Standard 8VAC20-780-500-A
Based on observation, staff did not wash their hands before and after helping a child use the toilet.

Evidence: Staff member in the older 3?s classroom did not wash their hands while helping 3 children use the toilet.
Plan of Correction: Staff will be reminded to wash hands before and after helping children with the toilet.
Standard 8VAC20-780-560-G
Based on observation food containers were not clearly dated and labeled in a way that identifies the owner.

Evidence: Children?s water bottles were not dated and labeled with their names.
Plan of Correction: A system will be put in place to ensure all food and drink containers from home are labeled with the child?s name and date.
