Inspector Notes

A monitoring inspection was conducted on 01/13/2023 between the hours of approximately 10:00 am and 1:45 pm. There were 15 children present with 4 staff supervising.
The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of 3 child records and 4 staff records were reviewed.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program. Standard 8VAC20-780-260-A
Based on documentation review, the center did not provide to the licensing representative an annual fire inspection report from the appropriate fire official having jurisdiction.
Evidence:
1) On the date of inspection, the most recent inspection report available was dated 06/02/2021.
Plan of Correction: Fire inspection was conducted on 01/06/2023 and a copy of the inspection report was submitted to the licensing inspector.
Standard 8VAC20-780-330-B
Based on observation, resilient surfacing in the playground did not comply with minimum safety standards.
Evidence:
1) On the date of inspection, the resilient surfacing on the landing zone of the green slide was not enough. Dirt and ground was able to be seen from where the resilient surfacing has been kicked out.
Plan of Correction: The resilient surfacing in the playground was corrected on 1/18/2023. Resilient surfacing was raked.
Standard 8VAC20-780-550-D
Based on documentation review, emergency evacuation procedures were not practiced monthly.
Evidence:
1) On the date of inspection, the 2022 emergency drills log provided for review, did not have evacuation (fire) drills documented for the months of November and December 2022.
Plan of Correction: Fire drill practiced on 01/05/2023.

Based on documentation review, lockdown procedures were not practiced at least annually.
Evidence:
1) On the date of inspection, the 2022 emergency drills log provided for review did not contain documentation of a lockdown drill being conducted for the year.
Plan of Correction: Lockdown drill practiced on 01/18/2023.
