Inspector Notes

An unannounced subsidy health and safety inspection was conducted on 12/14/2022 from12:45 pm - 1:45 pm. At the time of entrance there were 26 children in care with four teaching staff. Children were observed during nap. Records were reviewed for three children and three staff.
A licensing inspection was also conducted on this date. Both inspections combined cover subsidy health and safety regulations. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards were reviewed during this supplemental inspection.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Standard 8VAC20-790-600-D-1
Based on record review and interview, the vendor failed to ensure that all staff who work directly with children shall have within 90 days of the date of employment current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) appropriate to the ages of children in care. The training shall include an in-person competency demonstration.

Evidence:
1. Staff 1, hire date 07/12/2022, lacks CPR certification with an in-person competency demonstration.
2. Administrative staff confirmed that staff 1 had not obtained CPR certification.
Plan of Correction: The program director stated that a class for CPR and First Aid certification is being held for staff in January 2023.
