Inspector Notes

This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia. A code compliance inspection was initiated on 1/11/22 and concluded on 1/13/22. The director was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were 15 children present and 6 staff. The inspector emailed the director a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed 3 staff records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance(s) with applicable code sections and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.

Based on staff record review, some background checks for staff were not obtained.
Evidence:
Staff #1, #2 and #3 have all lived outside of the state of Virginia in the past five years. A Sex Offender search and State Criminal Record search from the state they came from has not completed.
Plan of Correction: All out of state criminal background checks will be obtained and forwarded to the Licensing Inspector for review within 10 days.
Going forward, all applicants who have lived outside of Virginia in the past five years will have the additional out of state background checks that are required prior to hire.
