Inspector Notes

This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, including telephone contacts, documents review, interviews and a virtual tour of the program.

A monitoring inspection was initiated on October 1, 2021, and concluded on October 8, 2021. The director was contacted by telephone and a virtual inspection was conducted. There were 55 children present and 9 staff supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of 5 child records and 6 staff records were reviewed.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Based on staff records, the center did not obtain a copy of the results of a criminal history record information check, a sex offender registry check, and a search of the child abuse and neglect registry or equivalent registry from any state in which the individual has resided in the preceding five years.
Evidence:
1. Staff #1 (date of employment 8/09/2021) did not have in record available for review during inspection sex offender check.
2. Staff #1 did not have out of state child abuse and neglect check for living in the state of Mississippi, District of Columbia, Illinois, and Missouri within the last 5 years.
2. Staff #2 (date of employment 8/15/2021) did not have available for review during inspection sex offender check and out of state child abuse and neglect search for living in the state of Kansas within the last 5 years.
Plan of Correction: Staff #1 Record submitted via email.

Staff #1 Background Checks have been submitted to the appropriate states for review with the exception of Washington DC. I have contacted someone from DC, but have yet to hear back if #1 employee has to have another fingerprint check to be able to move forward with the Background Check. They had one in August.

2. Staff #2 Sex Offender Check Submitted
Child Abuse and Neglect for Kansas has been submitted.
