Inspector Notes

This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
A monitoring inspection was initiated on 4/19/21 and concluded on 4/20/21. The director was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were 69 children with 14 staff present.

The inspector emailed the director a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed 2 children and 2 staff files to ensure documentation was complete.
The information gathered during the inspection determined one violation with applicable standards or law.
Please notify your Licensing Inspector upon receipt of the background check for staff A.

Standard 63.2(17)-1720.1-B-4
Based on a review of two staff files and an interview with the director, it was determined that one staff did not have the out of state criminal history name check required for an existing employee by 12/30/20.
Evidence:
Staff A was hired on 8/5/19 and had lived in Louisiana within the last five years. The center has not obtained the out of state criminal history check for staff A.
Plan of Correction: In objection to the cited offense, it should be known that the out of state institutions involved are not working together and make checking employee backgrounds convoluted and nearly impossible. I would like to have it known also that the employee in question has been fingerprinted and social service background checked in Virginia and was found to have no criminal background.
