Violations

1
Standard 22VAC40-185-560-F
Based on observation and discussion with the staff, the center failed to ensure that when centers choose to provide meals or snacks they shall follow the most recent, age-appropriate nutritional requirements of a recognized authority such as the Child and Adult Care Food Program of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).

Evidence: During the 09/08/2021 virtual inspection the children in care were observed having snow cones during afternoon snack. Staff #1 stated that the snow cone was being served as the afternoon snack for the day as a special treat. The afternoon snack served on 09/08/2021, a snow cone, did not meet the most recent, age-appropriate nutritional requirements of a recognized authority such as the USDA.
Plan of Correction: The snack listed on the menu will always be served to children in addition to treats on special occasions.
