Inspector Notes

A renewal inspection was conducted on June 3, 2022 and concluded on June 7, 2022. The assistant director assisted with the inspection. There were 74 children present, ranging in ages from five months to five years, with 12 staff supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of five child records and five staff records were reviewed.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Violations

1
Standard 8VAC20-780-510-G
Based on review of medication, the center did not ensure medication was labeled with the child?s name, the name of the medication, the dosage amount, and the time or times to be given.

Evidence:
The prescription medication for child #2 and the prescription medication for child #5 were not maintained in the original, pharmacy labeled container containing the name of the medication, the dosage amount and the time or times to be given. Each medication was observed in a locked bag only labeled with the child?s name.
Plan of Correction: Per the assistant director: The original container did not fit into the safety sack medication bag so we retuned it to the parent. I will have the parent provide the label with all the required information to be kept on the medication.
