Inspector Notes

An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on 11/30/23 from 11:50 to 1:30.
The center had 37 children present with 6 classroom staff in 3 groupings. Observed lots of activities going on, music time, centers and lunch as well as outdoor play on the playground and parachute play in the field. Lots of interaction between staff and children. The school also has a private school that had 4 children in attendance with 1 staff today. Reviewed 2 new staff records as well as 4 children's records. A violation notice was given to the center along with this inspection summary. Based on the review of the lunch boxes in two rooms, the center failed to ensure lunchboxes were labeled with names and dates.
Evidence: Out of 10 lunchboxes checked, 7 did not have dates or names of the child.
Plan of Correction: We will remind parents to add name and date to the lunch boxes and also remind staff to check every day.
Standard 8VAC20-780-60-A
Based on the review of medications reviewed at the center, the center failed to get some of the required information.
Evidence: One child, out of four children's files reviewed, Child 2,is missing the allergy action plan for an emergency medication.
Plan of Correction: We will contact the parents and get the allergy action plan.
Standard 8VAC20-780-70
Based on the review of 2 new staff records, the center failed to get some of the required paperwork to make the file complete.
Evidence Based on the review of 2 staff records, Staff 1, is missing 2 references.
Plan of Correction: We will get references for the staff, she is an adult child of another staff member.
