Inspector Notes

An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on 8/14/2023. The center had 52 children present with 12 classroom staff in 7 groupings.
Observed the children napping, having afternoon snack and playing with the staff. Today's snack was crackers and oranges. Interaction between staff and children observed in all the rooms.
A violation notice was given to the center with this inspection summary.

Standard 8VAC20-780-270-A
Based on the inspection of the physical plant, the center failed to keep the space in an operable condition.
Evidence: During the inspection a cracked window in the yellow ducks room, next to the door was found as well as a leaking toilet in the boys bathroom.
Plan of Correction: We have reported both issues to the church and they are working on getting both repaired.
Standard 8VAC20-780-510-F
Based on the review of medications and authorization forms, the center does not have a current authorization for one medication on site.
Evidence: An Epi-pen was in the medication box and will expire in September of 2023. The center could locate a medication authorization that expired in August of 2022. No current authorization could be located.
Plan of Correction: We might have an authorization but our administrator is currently on vacation. We will have the parents fill out an authorization form for the next ten days and check with our administrator if we have a newer authorization.
