Inspector Notes

An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on 08/24/2023 from 10:00am to 11:00am as the result of a self-reported incident involving a child?s dietary restrictions and feeding. At the time of inspection, there were 4 children in the infant and toddler classrooms ages 4 months to age 20 months old supervised by 2 staff. The physical plant, attendance, 2 staff records, 1 child record, and policies were reviewed. Children were observed participating in eating, sensory activities, and free play. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice.

Please complete the columns for "Plan of Correction" and "Date to be Corrected" for each violation cited on the Violation Notice, and then return a signed and dated copy to the licensing office by 5pm on 9/11/2023. Please email me at angela.dudek@doe.virginia.gov with any questions.

Violations

1
Standard 8VAC20-780-40-M
Based on review of documentation and interview with the staff, the center did not maintain a current and dated written list of children?s allergies, sensitivities, and dietary restrictions that was accessible to all staff in each group or area where children are present.

Evidence:
In the infant and toddler classrooms, the list of children?s allergies, sensitivities and dietary restrictions did not contain the dietary restriction specified by Child #1?s physician and parent.
Plan of Correction: The allergy list was posted in every classroom during the inspection and now sensitivities and dietary restrictions have also been included.
