The center self reported a situation involving a staff engaging in inappropriate behavioral guidance and physically disciplining a child. Interviews and a review of video footage supported citations in the areas of behavioral guidance and forbidden actions.

Based on interviews and a review of video footage, it was determined that the center's staff failed to promote a child's well-being and growth when the staff failed to interact with a child with needed help, comfort and support.
Evidence:
On 11/7/23 at approximately at 9m during circle time, staff A can be seen on video footage sternly telling child A to put their shoes back on after the toddler had taken them off. The voice tone was harsh and not intended to constructively redirect the toddler.

Based on a review of video footage and interviews, it was determined that a staff physically punished a toddler.

On 11/7/23 at approximately 9 am, staff A threw a baggie of flash card pieces at child A to get their attention and to direct the child to put their shoes and socks back on. The baggie hit
the child in the leg/foot area.
