Inspector Notes

An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on April 25, 2023. The inspector arrived at 1:45pm and departed at approximately 3:15pm. There were 31 children present and 4 staff members. A sample size of 8 records were reviewed which included 4 children?s records and 4 staff records. The Inspector observed staff and children?s interactions throughout the inspection. Children were observed during indoor and outdoor play, group activity, getting off the bus into the daycare, and handwashing. First aid kits and emergency preparedness documents were observed. No medications are administered at the center. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented. The violations are listed on the violation notice issued to the center and were reviewed with the Owner at the exit interview.

Based on record review and interview, it was determined that the center did not ensure that all employees shall undergo a background check in accordance with subsection B every five years thereafter.
Evidence:
1. In reviewing staff records, 3 of 4 staff records had expired background checks that expired April 16, 2023.
2. Staff #1, the owner and director, confirmed that 3 of the 4 staff members had expired background checks.
Plan of Correction: The center responded with the following: Staff #1 scheduled for staff members to have their background checks completed on April 29, 2023 at 9am. Moving forward, the center will ensure that all background checks are up to date.

Based on record review and interview, it was determined that the center did not ensure that staff shall complete annually a minimum of 16 hours of training appropriate to the age of children in care.
Evidence:
1. In review of all four staff members records, each staff member did not complete the annual 16 hours of training appropriate to the age of children in care.
2. Staff #1, the owner and director, confirmed that all staff members did not have the required completion of annual 16 hours of training appropriate to the age of children in care.
Plan of Correction: The center responded with the following: Staff #1 printed out the list of trainings online for each staff member to complete. Staff #1 will ensure that all staff members will have a minimum of 16 hours of training annually.
