Inspector Notes

An unannounced code compliance inspection was conducted on 10/26/2023 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. There were 24 children present with 10 supervising staff. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision and procedures. A total of 5 staff records were reviewed.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility. Based on observation, the center did not ensure all areas of the premises accessible to children were free of obvious injury hazards.

Evidence:
1. A bottle of glass cleaner was observed sitting on a sink accessible to children.
Plan of Correction: The cleaner was removed from the area during inspection.
Standard 8VAC20-770-40-D-2
Based on record review, results of a search of the central registry were not obtained within 30 days of employment for 4 of 5 staff reviewed.

Evidence:
1. Staff #1, 2, 3, and 4 began employment on 8/25/2023. The results of a search of the central registry in the records for Staff #1, 2, 3, and 4 were dated 10/20/2023.
Plan of Correction: Central Registry Check results were obtained for staff and placed in the record. The Center will ensure background checks are completed within required time frames.
