Inspector Notes

This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.

A subsidy health and safety inspection was initiated on April 4, 2021 and concluded on April 4, 2021. The director was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were 67 children present and nine staff. A licensing inspection was conducted on the same date as the SHSI supplemental inspection. Both inspections combined cover subsidy health and safety regulations. Only subsidy regulations that are not covered in licensing standards are reviewed during this supplemental inspection.

The information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance(s) with subsidy regulations, and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.

Based on review of three staff records, the facility did not ensure staff completed Virginia Preservice Training for Child Care Staff, within the first 90 days of employment or subsidy vendor approva.

Evidence:

1. Staff #2 hired 11/18/2020, did not have documentation of completing Virginia preservice training.
2. The administrator stated staff #2 had not completed Virginia preservice training.
Plan of Correction: Per the administration: Staff will complete the Virginia preservice training within 90 days of hire.
