Inspector Notes

An unannounced Monitoring Inspection took place on February 12, 2024, between the hours of 11:08am and 12:58pm. There were three (3) classrooms observed with a total of 39 children present with 8 staff supervising within the supervision guidelines. The children were observed playing with various manipulatives, engaged in story time, toileting, handwashing and preparing for lunch. A complete inspection of the physical plant, children and staff records, evacuation drill logs, medication, required posted documents, first aid kit, and emergency procedures were observed during this inspection. The information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility. Standard 8VAC20-780-500-A
Based on observation, the staff did not wash their hands with soap and running water before a diaper change.
Evidence: Staff #3 did not wash their hands before diapering child #4.
Plan of Correction: Staff was reminded to wash hands before putting on the gloves. I will speak to our staff again on following the diapering procedures. Violation was corrected during inspection.
Standard 8VAC20-780-500-B
Based on observation, the diapering surface was not cleaned with soap and water after each use.
Evidence: Staff #3 did not wash the diapering surface with soap and water after diapering. Staff only used a bleach solution to clean the area.
Plan of Correction: Staff know to use soap & water first but I will speak to them again. Violation was corrected during inspection.
