Inspector Notes

An unannounced subsidy health and safety inspection was conducted on 05/09/2022. There were 72 children present with 13 staff. A licensing inspection was also conducted on this date. Both inspections combined cover subsidy health and safety regulations. Only subsidy regulations that are not covered in licensing standards are reviewed during this supplemental inspection.

Violations were found in the area of staff training. These violations are listed on the violation notice issued to the facility.

Standard 8VAC20-790-600-D-1
Based on record review, the vendor failed to ensure that staff have current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) appropriate to the ages of children in care. The training shall include an in-person competency demonstration.

Evidence:
1. The CPR certification for staff 1, obtained on 02/15/2021, did not include an in-person competency demonstration.
Plan of Correction: Staff will attend CPR/First Aid In person class on May 24, 2022, Management will review all staff files quarterly and ensure all new hire staff files are complete.

Based on record review, the vendor failed to ensure that staff obtain current certification in first aid appropriate to the ages of children in care within 90 days of employment.

1. Staff 1, hire date 09/02/2021, does not have first aid certification.
