Inspector Notes

This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.

A monitoring inspection was initiated on April 6, 2021 and concluded on April 8, 2021. The director was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were 51 children present and 17 staff. The inspector emailed the director a list of items required to complete the inspection. The inspector reviewed four children's records and four staff records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or laws and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.

The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care Programs.

Violations

1
Standard 22VAC40-185-280-G
Based on observation, the center failed to ensure that all hazardous materials not kept in original containers were clearly labeled and indicated the contents of the bottle.

Evidence:
1. In Classroom #1, #2, #3 and the front restroom, there were spray bottles that contained blue sanitizer. The bottles were not labeled with the contents.
2. Staff verified that the bottles were only labeled with the classroom or restroom that they belonged in, but were not labeled with the contents of the bottle.
Plan of Correction: Staff immediately labeled the spray bottles with the content that was in each one. Staff will complete random checks of spray bottles to ensure all are labeled and the labels have not fallen off.
